'Mango Mela' kicks off at Pinjore Gardens

As many as 182 varieties of mango are on display at a two-day annual 'Mango Mela' that began at Pinjore Gardens here today.

"About 182 varieties of mangoes are on display... Soyab farm, Raipur has exhibited maximum varieties of mango... The prominent ones being Langra, Chausa, Alphanso, Malika, Ratol, Malda, Amrapali, Ramkela, Totapari and Safeda," said an official spokesman of Haryana Horticulture Department here.

He said a total of 2,744 mango growers from Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Chandigarh are participating in the event.

Sumita Misra, Managing Director, Haryana Tourism Corporation, said special efforts have been made this time to create an eye-catching ambience with elements from nature and colours of raw mango lending a vibrant look to the event.
