The police have launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants who burgled the house of a relative of Nobel laureate Amartya Sen here adjacent to Visva Bharati University campus in Birbhum district, a senior police officer said Thursday.
The house of Kajari Roychowdhury, a relative of Sen at Gurupally locality here was found burgled by the caretaker Ramprasad Roy when he opened the house on Wednesday.
Roychowdhury's husband is a retired Indian Air Force officer and they live in Kolkata.
The caretaker said "on Wednesday morning when I came for regular cleaning I found a rear window broken. The iron-safe was broken and things were scattered on the floor. Some home appliances are missing. My owner instructed me to lodge complaint with police."
A senior police officer said "A case has been lodged. We have started investigation and found some clues.
