There has been a marked improvement in the health condition of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, who is undergoing treatment at Apollo hospital, and she would be well soon, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu said today.

"I talked to the Chief Secretary last night when I landed here. He told me there is a marked improvement and she will be well soon," he told reporters on the sidelines of a conference organised by Builders Association of India here.

"Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalithaa ji is recovering and likely to come out of hospital. I am confident that will happen. She is a person of strong will and at the end she will come out of hospital and serve the people," he said.

Jayalalithaa was admitted to Apollo hospital on September 22after she complained of fever and dehydration.

Later the hospital had said she was being treated for infection with respiratory support, among others.

Specialists from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, and from London, among others, have treated her during the period.

Apollo Hospitals Chairman Prathap Reddy had said yesterday that Jayalalithaa has "completely recovered" and it is up to her to decide when to go home.
