A marketing cooperative federation Punjab Markfed today announced to set up a food processing unit at Jalandhar with capital outlay of Rs 43 crore.
Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) of India will provide a grant of Rs 10 crore for setting up of this unit, said an official of Markfed.
A memorandum of understanding in this regard was signed today between Karmjeet Singh Sra, MD Markfed and Santosh Sarangi, Secretary, APEDA.
Sra said this project, which is likely to be operational by June, 2014, will not only generate employment, but will also give boost to the agricultural exports from Punjab.
