The MeT department has predicted rain or thundershowers at a few places in Haryana and Punjab over the next two days even as maximum temperatures today stayed around normal level in most parts of the two northern states.
UT Chandigarh, joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, recorded a maximum temperature of 36.8 degrees Celsius, a MeT Department report said here.
In Haryana, Ambala and Hisar registered maximum temperature of 36.7 and 36.8 degrees Celsius respectively while Karnal and Narnaul recorded identical temperature of 36 degrees Celsius.
Among other places in Punjab, Amritsar recorded a high of 36.5 degrees Celsius while Ludhiana and Patiala witnessed maximum of 36.1 degrees Celsius and 37.1 degrees Celsius, up to two degrees above normal.
