Maximum temperatures were today recorded below normal in Punjab and Haryana as mercury dropped by few notches in both the states.
Chandigarh recorded a maximum of 33.5 degrees Celsius, down by 5 degrees below normal, MeT department said.
Among other places in Punjab, Amritsar and Ludhiana recorded a high of 34.4 degrees C each, down by five notches below normal while Patiala recorded 35 degree Celsius, down by three notches.

In Haryana, Ambala, Hisar and Bhiwani recorded maximum at 35.5 degrees C, 37.1 degrees C and 35.8 degrees C respectively.
Narnaul saw mercury settling at 33.5 degrees C, down by seven degrees below normal and Karnal had a high of 36 degrees C.
MeT office, in a forecast, said that light rains or thundershowers may occur at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana during next 24 hours.
