Maximum temperatures rise in Punjab, Haryana

With generally dry weather prevailing in the region during the past 2-3 days, the maximum temperatures today rose by a few notches in Punjab and Haryana.

Chandigarh, the capital of the neighbouring agrarian states, recorded a high of 34.1 deg Celsius, the MeT department said here.

Amritsar in Punjab registered a high of 35.6 deg C while Ludhiana and Patiala's respective maximums settled at 34.4 deg C and 35.6 deg C.

In Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 34.5 deg C while Hisar's maximum settled at 36 deg. Bhiwani's high was recorded at 36.6 deg C.

The MeT has forecast light to moderate rain or thunder showers may occur at isolated places in both the states over the next two days.
