Mechanical engineer arrested for debit card fraud

A mechanical engineer working with a private company was today arrested for fraudulently using the debit card of his senior for online shopping.

Jasti Hari Venkata Kishore was apprehended by Cyber Crime Investigation Cell (CCIC) of the city police. The 29- year-old is employed with an infrastructure company, which is in power sector.

According to police, D Purnachandra Rao, General Manager of the company, took Kishore's help to book tickets online using his debit card.

However, Kishore took advantage of the debit card password and other details provided by Rao and used them to buy goods worth Rs 50,460 online, said CCIC Inspector K Satyanarayana Rao.
 

When Rao asked Kishore about the fraud, the latter denied any role in it. Rao then lodged a complaint with CCIC, which arrested Kishore, who has confessed to the crime.

Police seized a high-end Sony cellphone and Rs 25,150 in cash from Kishore.
