A medical team, which visited pneumonia-hit Bada Ansupa village in Odisha's Ganjam district, also found several children suffering from measles, chickenpox and skin diseases along with malnutrition.

"While at least eight children, aged between two and six years, were suffering from measles, four others (in the age group of 10 to 14 years) were detected with chickenpox," Ganjam Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Mrutunjay Mishra said.

The team has also detected two more children with pneumonia and severe acute malnutrition (SAM), he said.

Skin diseases are also rampant among the children, he said.

The ten-member expert team visited the tribal-dominated village under Patrapur block on Tuesday after the death of six children, aged between 6 months and 6 years, from May 6 to 16 due to suspected SAM compounded with pneumonia. Malnutrition was detected in most of the children, the CDMO stated.

The village, located about 60 kms from here, falls under the state's Woman and Child Development
