Medium sugar edges down on subdued demand

Medium sugar prices edged down marginally at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to subdued demand from stockists as well as poor upcountry demand.

Meanwhile, small sugar maintained a steady trend in the absence of any large-scale buying.

Medium sugar (M-30) moved down by Rs 4 to Rs 2,976/3,092 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 2,980/3,092.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,860/2,932 (Rs 2,860/2,932).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,976/3,092 (Rs 2,980/3,092).
