Medium sugar prices weaken on poor demand

Medium sugar prices weakened further at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to poor demand from stockist and retailers amidst ample supplies.

Meanwhile, small sugar prices held steady in the absence of any major buying activity.

Medium sugar (M-30) fell by Rs 14/20 per quintal to Rs 3,172/3,311 from last Friday's closing level of Rs 3,186/3,331.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,062/3,131 (Rs 3,062/3,131).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,172/3,311 (Rs 3,186/3,331).
