Medium sugar surges on heavy demand

Medium sugar prices surged at the Vashi wholesale market here today on heavy demand from stockists and exporters amid higher seasonal offtake.

While, small sugar witnessed a mixed pattern of trading owing to alternate bouts of buying and selling.

Medium sugar (M-30) hardened by Rs 36 to Rs 3,062/ 3,162 from Tuesday's close of Rs 3,026/3,162.

While, small Sugar (S-30) quoted at Rs 2,950/3,050 from Rs 2,956/3,040.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,950/3,050 (Rs 2,956/3,040).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,062/3,162 (Rs 3,026/3,162).
