Mentally challenged girl dies at shelter home in Ghaziabad

A 12-year-old mentally challenged girl died at a shelter home here due to some sudden ailment, police said today.

The girl was living in a shelter home 'missionary for charity'. Its management told police that she was feeling unwell yesterday following which she was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where she breathed her last, SHO Sihani gate Ashok Shisodia said.

Sensing mystery in her death, police has sent her body for post-mortem examination, he said.

District Probation Officer (DPO) Mohammad Mustakeem, who is officially monitoring the shelter homes of the district, said that the about 25 children referred by child welfare society are living here since long.
 

When DPO was asked about the legal status of the shelter home, he said, that it is recognised by the UP control board for women and children development.
