Mercury rises in UP; dry weather prevails

Weather remained mainly dry today as mercury continued to rise across the state with moderate fog occurring at isolated places.

According to MeT office here, night temperatures rose in Varanasi, Faizabad, Allahabad, Lucknow, Bareilly divisions and changed little in the remaining divisions of the state.

They were appreciably above normal in Varanasi, Lucknow, Allahabad, Bareilly, Moradabad, Jhansi, Agra divisions, above normal in Faizabad division and below normal in Gorakhpur division, the officials said.

Lowest minimum temperature in the state was 8.1 degrees Celsius at Gorakhpur.

Officials have forecast that the weather will remain mainly dry over the state.
