Mettupalayam-Coonoor train services cancelled

Train services between Mettupalayam and Coonoor were cancelled today, following heavy landslide between Hillgrove and Kallar railway stations.

With several parts in Nilgiris district experiencing heavy rainfall for the past couple of days, big boulders have fallen on the track, necessitating the cancellation of the Heritage Nilgiris Mountain Rail (NMR), scheduled to leave from Mettupalayam to Coonoor, at 7.10 AM, Southern Railway sources said adding that the restoration works are on.

However, trains services between Coonoor and Udhagamandalam (Ooty) will be operated as usual, they said.
