Four migrant

labourers, including three minor girls, were rescued from Andhra Pradesh's Malkonda area by an NGO and brought back here yesterday.

The four were identified as Lalita Sodi (15), Gangi Kabachi (14), Shanti Kabachi (15) and lone youth Kasa Kabachi (25) of Namkunda village under Korakunda block of tribal dominated Malkangiri district.

The vitims were allegedly lured by one Samuru of their village with promises of handsome wages besides free food and accomodation as they were not getting any work in the Maoist infested area.

After reaching the spot in January, 2013, they were made to work from eight in the morning till late night and were never paid the promised wages.

The NGO, Harmony, came to know about the plight of the workers and its head Durga Prasad Tripathy contacted an NGO of Andhra Pradesh and with their help came in contact with the contractor.

District Child Welfare Committee N C Das and officials of the district labour office met the children. "Efforts are on to return the childern to their guardians," Das said.
