A militant was killed in an encounter with the personnel of 13th Assam Rifles at Kambilong area in Tamenglong district in Nungba police station early this morning, official sources said.
Sources said that the militants opened fire at Assam Rifles personnel when they were patrolling at Kambilong area.
The Assam Rifles personnel retaliated by firing and one militant was killed in the exchange of fire on the spot. One AK-47 rifle was recovered from the dead militant.
