An eight-year-old girl kidnapped from Maur village was allegedly raped and then murdered by unidentified persons, police said today.
Body of the girl, who went missing on Monday night, was found dumped in the fields yesterday, they said.
The girl's family after failing in finding her, went to police. They lodged a complaint saying that the victim went missing on Monday night from outside her house, police said.
A case of kidnapping, rape and murder against the unidentified persons has been registered and some persons have been rounded up from Maur village for questioning, they said.
The postmortem examination of the victim's body was conducted at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, police said.
