A government school teacher in Katangi town allegedly raped a six-year-old girl in his neighbourhood, police said today.
The accused teacher, Santosh Deshmukh, posted at Manegaon Government School in the district, has been was arrested by the police in this connection.
According to police, Deshmukh had raped the minor girl three days back when she was alone at her house, Katangi Police Station in-charge, Nagendra Pratap Chouhan told reporters.
However, the incident came to light when the girl told her parents about it.
They lodged a complaint against Deshmukh after which he was arrested yesterday under section 376 (rape) and sections 7,8,9 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, police added.
