A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth under Pasan police station area in the district, police said today.
The victim, who is an eighth class student, was on the way from the school to her house in Sirri village yesterday, when the accused, Chandrashekhar Gaudh, waylaid her and dragged her to the jungle and thrashed her, police said.
He then raped her and fled the scene, they said.
The girl somehow managed to reach home and narrated the incident to her family, following which they filed a complaint with the police, they said.
A case has been registered against Gaudh under relevant sections of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, police said, adding efforts are on to nab the absconding accused and further investigation is on.
