Minor girl sexually assaulted by neighbour, accused held

A 6-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her neighbour who was arrested within hours of the incident that occurred in south east Delhi's Sangam Vihar, police said today.

The girl, who lived in Sangam Vihar area, was allegedly picked and sexually assaulted by the accused in his room yesterday, said a senior police officer.

The accused was later caught by locals and handed over to police.

A case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of IPC has been registered and further investigation is on, he added.
