Minor girl stabbed for resisting rape in WB

A 13-year-old girl was hospitalised after she stab injuries in an alleged rape attempt by a youth here, police said today.

A police officer said the girl suffered stab injuries on neck by accused Tapas Adhikary, 22, who took her away to a secluded spot in Shamuktala locality of the district and allegedly tried to rape her early today.

As the girl tried to resist his actions, Adhikary hit her with a knife and escaped, the officer said quoting the FIR lodged by her family at Shamuktala police station.

The girl was initially taken to the local health centre but later shifted to Alipurduar Hospital where her condition was stated to be critical, the officer said.
 

Police are on the lookout of the accused, the officer added.
