Minor married girl sold in Beed for prostitution, four booked

Police have rescued a 17-year-old married girl who was sold by a Thane based man to two women in city who forced her into prostitution.

The girl was rescued on Wednesday night, said police.

A case has been registered against four including two women and Thane based two men, said Beed police.

Police have given names of the accused as Tajumal Akhmal Shaikh (resident of Kalyan, Thane district), a uncle (name not known), Shashikala and Savita (both residents of Beed).

According to police, the girl and her husband came from Musheerabad district of West Bengal to Kalyan in Thane district some months back in search of a job.
 

On 20 September, Tajumal Akhmal Shaikh went to the couple's home and asked the girl to come with him as her husband had gone to Beed city for job, said police.

The girl believed Tajumal and went with him, said police adding he sold the girl to Shashikala and Savita and returned to Kalyan.

When the girl's husband came to know that she had gone with Tajumal, he contacted him and asked about his wife's whereabouts, but Tajumal avoided him, said police.

The girl had carried her husband's mobile in her bag by mistake on which she was contacted by the latter and he came to know that his wife was in Beed, said police.

He then went to Beed and contacted city police who rescued the girl using mobile location.

Beed superintendent of police G Sreedhar said the four have been booked under Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act as well as other sections of the IPC.
