Minor raped in Thane, youth arrested

A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Dombivli here after which he was arrested, police said today.

According to API P D Jadhav of Manpada police station, the incident took place yesterday when the 19-year-old accused lured the victim to his house in Davdigaon under some pretext and raped her.

The assaulter, a factory worker, gagged the girl before sexually abusing her, police said.

After the incident, the girl rushed to her parents and narrated the ordeal following which a police complaint was registered.

The youth was later arrested under sections 376 (2)(p)(r) of the IPC and Section 4 of the POCSO Act 2012, police said adding further probe is underway.
