Volvo Penta, a marine and industrial power system manufacturer, today said it has appointed Miron Thoms as head of India operations.

The company has appointed Thoms as Vice-President and Head of Volvo Penta in India as of November 1, 2017, Volvo Penta said in a statement.

With almost 10 years of service in the Volvo group, Thoms has experience in marketing, sales, business development, manufacturing as well as engine and engine after-treatment technology.

He has studied mechanical engineering and business administration in Germany and Poland.

"I am looking forward to focusing on business growth for Volvo Penta in India, ensuring we attract new customers on the Indian market across our segments," Thoms said.

This also includes strengthening the company's aftermarket and service network as well as relationships with the existing customer base, he added.

Volvo Penta, with nearly 4,000 dealers in over 130 countries, is a leading global manufacturer of engines and complete power systems for boats, vessels and industrial applications.
