Moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Mohammad Umar Farooq today welcomed the proposed visit of Indian Foreign Secretary to Pakistan but stressed on the need for the resolution of Kashmir issue for a progressive and secure south Asia.

"Any dialogue process between the two countries would not bear any result unless concrete steps are taken in the direction of resolution of the Kashmir issue," he said here.

"The proposed visit of Indian Foreign Secretary to Pakistan is a welcome step, but without addressing the contentious Kashmir dispute... The dream of a progressive and secure south Asia would not be realised," Mirwaiz said here.

Addressing the Friday congregation at Jamia Masjid, Mirwaiz said Hurriyat Conference and the people of Kashmir have always been in favour of friendly relations between India and Pakistan.
