An independent MLA and some of his

supporters were today thrashed by about half-a-dozen men over a land dispute in Udaipur district of Rajasthan.

Legislator Randhir Singh Bhindar had purchased a land in Gopalpura area of Vallabhnagar. "Today he had gone to perform a ritual on the land before commencing construction when seven to eight men attacked," IG Udaipur Anand Srivastava said.

Two of the assailants have been arrested.

"The accused were the supporters of a man who claims that the land belongs to him and they hit the MLA and three-four of his supporters," the police officer said.

They received mild injuries and no one of them was hospitalised, he said.
