Modi reaches out to Chinese through its micro-blogging site

Preparing to undertake his first visit to China, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today sought to reach out to its populace through the country's social media platform 'Weibo'.

He joined Weibo, saying he looks forward to interacting with Chinese friends.

"Hello China! Looking forward to interacting with Chinese friends through Weibo," he said in Chinese language.

Weibo, considered the Chinese version of Twitter, is said to be the largest micro-blogging site of the country with over 140 million users.

Modi is expected to undertake a visit to China in the middle of this month, his first to the country as Prime Minister. Earlier, as Gujarat Chief Minister, he had travelled to China a number of times.
 

Modi is very active on Twitter and has a large following on the micro-blogging site.
