Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's programme 'Digital India Week', was not a new concept and that former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi had started it.

"PM Modi's 'Digital India' is not a new concept. Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi started it long time back," Gogoi tweeted.

"We will form Women Development Corporation and Rural Development Corporation to accelerate the development process," he said.

The Prime Minister had yesterday launched the 'Digital India Week' in Delhi to empower citizens in the use of IT.

"I dream of a digital India where high-speed digital highways unite the nation; 1.2 billion connected Indians drive innovation; technology ensures the citizen-government interface is incorruptible," Modi had said.
