Hailing Narendra Modi's anointment as BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate, the party's national vice president Bandaru Dattatreya today said the move would herald victory for the party.

The announcement reflects the mood of crores of people across the country, Dattatreya told PTI here.

BJP activists are in a jubilant mood over the Gujarat Chief Minister being made the party's Prime Ministerial nominee, he said, adding neutral voters and anti-Congress forces would also gravitate towards the BJP with the announcement.

"BJP would better its previous best performance of winning four Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh in the 2014 elections with Modi being projected as the PM candidate," he said.

BJP workers burst crackers and distributed sweets after the announcement was made in Delhi.

State BJP president G Kishan Reddy said the NDA would come to power in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections under Modi's leadership.

"Modi is the able leader who can lead the country on the path of progress at a time when Congress rule has made life difficult for common people," he claimed.

Modi was declared as the saffron party's Prime Ministerial candidate by its President Rajnath Singh in Delhi this evening.
