Director General of Police (DGP) R P Sharman today said more security forces would be deployed in Kandhamal district as Maoists have been expanding their network in the area.
Sharma said this after reviewing Maoist activities in the KKBN (Kandhamal-Kalahandi-Boudh-Nayagarh) division of the CPI(Maoist).
"The ultras are taking the geographical advantage of Kandhamal district to expand their activities. The district is densely forested and surrounded by hills," he said.

"We will deploy more forces of CRPF, DVF and SOG in a strategic manner. Intelligence network will also be augmented," the DGP said adding that a female cadre belonging to KKBN was killed in an encounter two days ago.
The review meeting was attended by IGP Intelligence, IGP, Law and Order, IGP, Southern Range, IG, CRPF and SP Kandhamal.
Meanwhile, during his return from Kandhamal, DGP Sharma's chopper made an emergency landing in Khurda due to inclement weather.
