Mormugao, a taluka which is home to Goa's major port, houses almost 90 per cent of the slum dwellers in the state, says the Economic Survey report.
The ES report, which was tabled in the Legislative Assembly today, mentions that 90.01 per cent of the slum dwellers are living in Mormugao taluka, while only 3.74 per cent live in Ponda taluka.
"Mormugao has the highest slum population of 23,625 persons, accounting for 90 per cent of the total slum population of the state," the report says.

It mentions that slums exist only in three talukas-Ponda, Mormugao and Margao.
"Margao, with 1,641 persons, account for 6.25 per cent and Ponda, with 981 persons, account for 3.74 per cent," the report reads.
