A 26-year-old mother of three daughters from Bihar was allegedly gangraped and murdered at EWS Colony of Sector 32 here today, police said.
Two accused, Mohd Johar and Pappu Singh, were arrested while one person is absconding. All three are migrant labourers from Bihar, DCP Ludhiana Durman Nimble said.
The victim was a TB patient and was seeking treatment here. She was residing with her parents who are also migrant labourers from Bihar and were living in the same building like the accused, police said.
The incident took place in the wee hours when the woman's parents were away at a social function in a nearby colony, they added.
An FIR was registered against the accused by the victim's brother.
