MSEDCL contract worker held in bribery case

A private electrician hired by the MSEDCL was allegedly caught accepting a bribe of Rs 700 for replacing a faulty meter, Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) said today.

The accused, Jitendra Krushna Gajare, who worked as a contract worker for the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL), demanded and accepted Rs 700 bribe from a domestic power consumer Rehamat Rasul Khan, a resident of Gandhi Nagar here, for meter replacement work, ACB officials said.

The complainant approached the Thane unit of the ACB consequenty upon which the officials of the ACB PI Vishali Pawar laid a trap and arrested the accused near Kasturi Plaza accepting the bribe.
 

"The contract worker has been charged under section 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and offence registered with the local police station," Superintendent of Police, ACB Thane Unit Datta Karale said.
