Mud houses damaged by hailstones

Several mud houses were damaged by hailstones early this morning at Barrackpore in North 24-Parganas district.

Sub-Divisional Officer Purnendu Maji said the officials have visited the affected people who blocked Kalyani highway for a while demanding relief materials.

Relief materials would be distributed among the affected people after assessing the extent of damage, he said.

Some hailstones weighing nearly a kg pounded the mud-houses for nearly 15 minutes during the early morning rain, officials said.
