A mukhiya of a
panchayat was today shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Medininagar, the headquarters town of Palamau district.
Dilip Prasad was going to Daltonganj railway station when two bike-borne men shot him twice, Superintendent of Police Y S Ramesh told reporters here.

Prasad, who was the mukhia of Hyder Nagar block of the district, was going to board a train to return home when the assailants pumped in the bullets in him, killing him on the spot, he added.
"Investigations are on and we will track down the killers," the SP said.
