Pervez Musharraf's lawyer has sought pardon for the former Pakistan military ruler's role in the military operation that killed Baluch nationalist Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti in 2006, the son of the slain tribal leader claimed today.

Nawabzada Jamil Akbar Bugti told the media that Musharraf sought pardon and apologised through his lawyer. He wants us to accept Bugti's death as "Gods will" and pardon him, he said.

He said the slain Bugti's family will not accept any apology.

During today's hearing, 72-year-old Musharraf's lawyer asked me to meet him personally, but I refused and told him to discuss all issues before the court.

However, Jamil urged the court to include the negotiation team constituted by Musharraf as witness in the investigations process to know what exactly Musharraf's message was.

Nawab Akbar Bugti and 26 of his aides were killed during the military operation in Dera Bugti mountainous area in August, 2006.

Jamil said the anti-terrorism court had accepted his plea for having the body of his father exhumed for post-mortem.

Akhter Hussain, the lawyer of the former president, told the media, "For the prosperity of people of Baluchistan, we should accept the incident (of Akbar Bugtis killing) as a tragedy and forget it for the sake of God's pleasure."

He said the idea of forgive and forget was his personal opinion.

"I have to persuade Pervez Musharraf on it," Hussain said.
