Mustard seed futures down on low demand

Mustard seed drifted by Rs 34 to Rs 3,803 per quintal in futures trade today as operators were busy in trimming their exposure coupled with muted demand in spot markets.

Besides, relentless supplies from growing regions in the market in the physical markets too kept pressure on prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, mustard seed for delivery in far-month June slipped further by Rs 34, or 0.89 per cent, to Rs 3,803 per quintal, in an open interest of 26,910 lots.

The mustardseed for delivery in May delivery also dropped by Rs 31, or 0.82 per cent, to Rs 3,760 per quintal, depicting an open interest of 75,580 lots.
