Cardamom prices drifted lower by 1.46 per cent to Rs 796 per kg in futures trade today as traders cut their bets amid sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in June fell by Rs 11.80, or 1.46 per cent, to Rs 796 per kg, in a business turnover of 43 lots.

On similar lines, the spice for delivery in July shed Rs 6.70, or 0.80 per cent, to Rs 833.20 per kg in nine lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions, driven by sluggish demand in the spot market against ample stocks position on higher supplies from producing belts mainly weighed on cardamom prices at futures trade.
