Former Nagaland Chief Minister and President of Nagaland Olympic Association Neiphiu Rio today congratulated MC Mary Kom for her gold medal wining feat at the ongoing Asian Games.
"Mary Kom's stellar performance is an inspiration to the entire nation especially for the youth of the North-East and women in particular," Rio said in a statement here this evening.
"Her perseverance, discipline and hard work are the benchmark of her success and her determination in the backdrop of her non-qualification for Commonwealth Games will inspire the whole country," Rio said.
He also thanked Mary Kom's family members who have extended tremendous support and encouragement to her.
Rio observed that her achievement is even more commendable considering the fact that she is a mother of three children.
Rio hoped that her efforts will inspire the youth of the nation so that India and the North-East will produce many more champions in the years to come.
