A reactor of Narora Atomic Power Station (NAPS), which was shut down yesterday due to technical glitch in the turbine affecting power supply in seven states, will take at least two days to restart the operations.

"There was some glitch in the turbine because of which the plant (NAPS reactor 1) was shut down for inspection. Our team is working on it and should hopefully start the plant in next two days," said a senior Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) official.

The official added that in case of a technical glitch it is a norm to shut down the plant for at least 36 hours.

The Norora Atomic Power Station in Bulandshahar District of Uttar Pradesh has two 220 MW plants each that supply electricity to the Northern grid.

Due to the shutdown of the grid, less power was sent to the Northern grid resulting in power cuts in seven states.
