Turkey today conferred its highest civilian award on Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul conferred on Sharif the 'Medal of Democracy' at a special investiture ceremony at the presidential palace in Ankara.
Sharif, on a three-day official visit to Turkey, thanked the Turkish president for conferring the award on him and said it is a testimony to the unique relations that thrive in the hearts of the people of the two countries.
Sharif said both the countries need to work continuously towards exploring new vistas of cooperation in different fields.
He said he will work closely with the Turkish leadership in the years to come for the collective good of the people of the two countries.
