Naxal killed in encounter in Chhattisgarh's Gariaband district

A leader was killed in an encounter with police in Chhattisgarh's district today, an said.

Sevak Ram, a 'commander', was killed in an encounter with police in a forest near Ravandiggi village, a told Bhasha/ PTI over phone.

A team of district police was patrolling the area after getting information about presence of Naxals under the station limits yesterday, he said.

The team came under fire near Ravandiggi village today and retaliated, he said.

Sevak Ram, the whose body was recovered from the spot after the rebels fled, was carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head, added.

He was involved in many incidents of violence including killings, the official said.
