NCP, an ally in the Democratic Front government in the Maharashtra, today expressed disappointment over police failure to arrest the killers of rationalist Narendra Dabholkar.

"It is the failure of the police to nab the killers of Narendra Dabholkar. Special attention should be given to nab the rationalist's killers," party spokesperson Nawab Malik told reporters here.

Notably, the Home ministry in the state is with the NCP, headed by R R Patil.

Police had earlier formed several teams to crack the case. A sketch of one of the two alleged assailants was also released by police.

The state government had earlier said that police had got some clues regarding the killing of the 69-year-old activist.

Dabholkar, who was in the forefront of anti-superstition movement in the state, was shot dead by two motorcycle borne unidentified assailants on August 20, when he was out for a morning walk on the Omkareshwar temple bridge in Pune.
