A 'Platoon Commander' of NDFB (Songbijit faction) was injured in an encounter with security forces at Dimajuli in Chirang district today, but he managed to escape, police said.
During an operation by a joint team of police and CRPF in the area, NDFB militant, Birbai fired at them from a house and got injured in the retaliatory gunshots, IGP Bodoland Territorial Administrative Districts (BTAD) L R Bishnoi said.
The militant, however, managed to escape, he said.
Police recovered among others Rs 41,000 in cash, an ATM card, a cheque book, two mobile sets and some extortion notices from the house.
Three persons staying in the house where the ultra was taking shelter were arrested, the IGP said.
