"I do not think the farmers community will be harmed. Rather they will be benefitted by the decision to allow FDI in retail sector," Nerurkar said to question on the sidelines of the 9th Convocation of Tata Football Academy here yesterday.
He said more such initiatives were needed to be taken to check the prevailing economic slowdown and bring the economy back on the track.
Government proposals on development projects, particularly in the infrastructure sector, has to bring on ground soon to achieve the goal, he suggested.
The Tata Steel MD, however, regretted that nothing much was taking place as far as Greenfield projects in the steel sector or the infrastructure front was concerned.
