New-born baby boy dumped near garbage bin

A new-born baby boy was found abandoned near a garbage bin in a town near here today.

The infant, wrapped in a shawl and put in a textile shop bag, was noticed by a roadside shopowner at Sandhai Thidal near Thirubhuvanam on hearing the child's cries, police said.

He handed over the baby to police who admitted it to the Government Hospital.

Doctors, who checked the baby, said the baby would not be even one-day old and it was healthy.
