New Indo-Nepal bus service begins

In an attempt to soothe the frayed nerves, a new bus service between India and Pakistan has been started.

The bus service-- 'janrath'-- started yesterday. It will operate fromNew Delhi via Banbasa in Champawat district of Uttarakhand toMahendra Nagar bordering town of Kanchanpur district of Nepal.

"The bus service started from December 26 from New Delhi. It has been named 'janrath' and the number of buses will be increased if the passengers from both side gets increased," said a UP roadway officer.

According to sources at Indian border post at Banbasa, the UP roadways bus from Sahibabad bus stand near Delhi, with 19 Nepalesepassengers on board, reached at border bridge at Banbasa this morning.
 

"It returned with 44 Nepalese passengers for Delhi in the evening," said BM Upreti, in-charge of Indian police post at the barrage.
