Newborn found dead in bucket

A newly born girl was found dead in a bucket at a government-run hospital in Rainawari area of the city, police said today.

The baby girl was found dead in a bucket in the bathroom of JLNM hospital yesterday by hospital staff, who reported the matter to police, they said.

According to the police, the baby girl, whose umbilical cord had also not been tied, had been apparently 'murdered' by immersing her in water.

A case has been registered and police is further investigating the issue, they said.
