Shares of state-run NHPC today rose by 5.5 per cent after the company posted 27.8 per cent increase in standalone net profit for the September quarter.
The stock gained 4.78 per cent to end at Rs 26.30 on BSE. Intra-day, it surged 6.37 per cent to Rs 26.70.
At NSE, shares of the company went up by 5.55 per cent to close at Rs 26.25.

In terms of volume, 16.52 lakh shares of the company were traded on BSE and over one crore shares changed hands at NSE during the day.
NHPC today posted 27.8 per cent increase in standalone net profit to Rs 1,554.6 crore for the September quarter.
It had posted net profit of Rs 1,215.6 crore in the July- September period of last fiscal, NHPC said in a BSE filing.
Its total income from operations increased to Rs 2,403.3 crore, over Rs 2,344.9 crore in the year-ago period.
The company's total expenses during the quarter under review increased to Rs 1,185.9 crore, over Rs 1,128.3 crore in the year-ago period.
